Oyster Shell Bagging Volunteer Event at the Savannah State University Marine Science Research Center

April 10th, 8 AM – 12 PM  

Researchers in the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences at Savannah State University are seeking volunteers for two oyster shell bagging events.  The shell bags generated during these events will be used to restore oyster  reef habitat in the Skidaway River adjacent to Skidaway Island State Park.  Your  participation will directly impact coastal ecosystems through the restoration of  vital oyster reef habitat.  If you are interested in participating and/or have any  questions about this study, please reach out to Cameron Atkinson:    catkins5@student.savannahstate.edu.

Please Bring: 

  • Work gloves 
  • Closed toe shoes 
  • Clothes that can get dirty 
  • Sunscreen 
  • Bug spray
